Little Thoughts & A Mad World
I’m writing this blog to Adam Lambert’s Mad World which I just bought and downloaded from iTunes. For those who don’t watch American Idol, Adam is one of the show’s contestants but he’s so much bigger than the show. He’s going to have an amazing career and I will be one of the first in […]
Shout Out To Single Moms
This one is for all the single moms out there who are facing another holiday and trying to do it all on their own. I want you to know that I get it. I want you to know that I care. I know it’s hard. Holidays can be particularly brutal, and sometimes really lonely, even with kids […]
Birth Date
The weather here is gorgeous. Today is the third day of beautiful 70 degree weather and I love it. When not in bed, resting on my side, I’m sitting in a chair in the sun soaking it up, soaking it in. I even propped my Alpha Smart on my belly and typed as best as […]
Chilly April
Yesterday morning Surfer Ty flew back to Hawaii and I returned to my desk even as snow fell outside my window. The snow didn’t stick but the slushy rain and snow and cold made me want to be anywhere but sitting at my desk for nine hours. I did take a couple catnaps yesterday, though, […]
All Good
I ended up doing a lot of writing last week which was terrific. I’ve not written since Friday, though, as Ty Gurney is here and kids had sports on Saturday, I had the Northwest Women’s Show yesterday, and then today was heavy with doctor appointments but I’m looking forward to returning to my desk tomorrow […]
Titles & Covers
Distracted by the remodel, as well as a couple weeks of intense boy issues related to sports and academics, I stopped writing on Shey’s book. I couldn’t focus on anything but getting well and through the crisis, but an email from my editor yesterday reminded me that I can’t be distracted. I can’t allow myself […]
Blogless in Seattle
I can’t write a blog. I’ve thought about writing a new blog. I’ve almost–twice–in the past few days sat down to write a new blog but the fingers won’t type. The brain’s not firing anything anymore. And I’m afraid of posting how blah I am because someone might perceive that I’m down, and I’m not […]
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
As one who loves Ireland, and spent my final semester at UCLA studying at University College Galway on Ireland’s west coast, today is a special day. I don’t celebrate it with green beer or corned beef and cabbage, but rather, I remember all the great Irish and Anglo-Irish writers I’ve studied and read, as well as the wonderful […]
