Chasing Pavements

Haven’t seen the Lifetime movie trailer yet?  Well, I have it right here!

Viewers who’ve seen the trailer have been asking me about the song, and as I was curious, too, I emailed the publicist over at Lifetime and she provided me with full details.  The artist is UK singer Adele, the song is “Chasing Pavements” and the song is from her album “19”.

It’s a really cool song and I plan on tracking down the album this weekend as Adele has a sound I could easily write to.  (I also keep thinking Adele was just on Saturday Night Live in the last couple of weeks…so if anyone knows, confirm or correct me!)

For those of you who haven’t seen the trailer but want to hear the song, pop over to YouTube and you’ll know what everyone’s talking about.

And in the spirit of Thanksgiving being just a week from today, I’m doing a little Odd Mom contest. The prize is a signed copy of Odd Mom Out, See’s Thanksgiving chocolates, a black t-shirt designed by my very cool friend Seeley Springman that reads Bookclub Gone Bad (her book club is wicked…I’ve joined them once…and do they know how to have fun), a Starbucks drink card and lots more fun goodies. The contest will close Friday night at midnight and I’ll draw the winner’s name first thing Saturday morning. All you have to do to enter is tell me in the comment section who you’re listening to these days. Do you have a favorite singer or band? Does anyone have an album coming out that you can’t wait to buy?  I’m always looking for new music so share, and you just might win!

And before I forget, Lifetime has added some very fun movie extras on their web site, including an excerpt from the book, and an essay by me.  If you’d like to check out all the features, visit the Lifetime Flirting With Forty page and join in the fun.

  1. Jane,
My all time favorite music is by BonJovi since I am, after all, a Jersey girl. But lately I have been listening to A LOT of Jordin Sparks. Her song One Step at a Time is really helping me to remember not to be scared of change and to go for it!! Along with Kari’s cheering:) And of course, if it’s got a good beat that I can dance to it, then I will blast it while I am cooking and cleaning and dance around the house! My kids sometimes think that is the funniest thing ever!! Hope you have a great Thursday!!

  2. I love listening to Il Divo and Josh Groban. Their voices just take my breath away. I especially like Il Divo’s song,
“MaMa” I play this song teasingly for my 16 year old son and tell him to listen to the words wisely.
He just rolls his big beautiful blue eyes at me. I love it!
    Have a Happy Thanksgiving Jane!

  3. I usually listen to Absolute Radio out of the UK.

But I can always listen to the Stone Roses – and am looking for similar sounding bands (since they only did two albums – with no chance they are getting back together.)

  4. I love that video for “Chasing Pavements” I saw it a few days ago on MTV.

My current favorite song right now (and my favorites change a lot because I love music so much!) is Taylor Swift’s “Love Story”… if you enjoy a good love song then I recommend it!

Some of my favorite artists right now are… Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers, Nickel Creek, Carrie Underwood, HSM Cast,Saving Abel, Katy Perry, Secondhand Serenade, Demi Lovato, and many more! All these artists are great you should definately check them out Jane. Oh, and have a great Thanksgiving Everyone!

  5. I’m really looking forward to buying David Cook’s new album. I thought he was very talented on American Idol. I just bought albums by Nickelback, Snow Patrol, and Hinder, but I haven’t made time to actually listen to them yet.

I agree with Danielle A that Taylor Swift’s new song “Love Story” is beautiful.

  6. Lately, I’ve been looping through old Cowboy Junkies and David Gray as I write. I know the albumns well enough that they don’t distract me but not so well that I know every word and am compelled to sing along. They’re so good musically and so talented that I just never get tired of them.

In the “feel like joining the current decade” category, I’m hooked on Kings of Leon right now; just got the CD this week and uploaded it everywhere (yes, I still buy CDs – it’s not all downloads yet). Really like the sound and the lyrics those boys are putting out. I did get the new Nickelback album b/c it was dirt cheap downloaded from Amazon, but now that I’ve listened to it, I want my $3.99 back as it wasn’t really worth it.

Then’s always my U2 boys and Bon Jovi is always somewhere, else I’ll loose my Jersey girl cred.

  7. jane…
well the only time i have time to listen to music is in the car & thats if the little one isnt yelling or talking to me. i do like coldplay, neil diamond, barry manilow, the bodeans, and i cant think of anything else.

  8. I like so many kinds of music! The song that really makes me happy right now is, “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. I also really like that new Coldplay song that they play a lot. I rely on my kids to keep me informed in the music department! As for Adele, I think you are right, Jane. I think I did see her on SNL a few weeks ago and she has a great voice! I will have to hear the “Chasing Pavements” song!

  9. Gosh I’m all over the place. I listen to Coldplay, Travis, U2, but I’ve also been digging classical music scores lately.

Anything by Danny Elfman (Did Batman, Sleepy Hollow, etc.) and then of course the standard John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, etc.)

  10. After reading the other comments I’d say I’m Odd Mom Out as I listen to country most of the time. I love the oldies such as The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, Martina McBride, and any album that has Nature music on it. I love relaxing to Nature music with the lights down low and reclining in the recliner.

  11. Okay, call me a dork or whatever you like, I have just now taken the time to go over to lifetime and check out all of the cool stuff they have about the movie! Three words… Oh My God!!!!! I can’t wait to see the movie. So many questions flushed through my mind all at once. I am so excited for you! I can’t even explain. I know we are supposed to be talking about music and who we love and all of that, but before I said anything about music I had to let you in on my excitement! Like you need any more. I’m sure you conceal enough excitement for all everyone!

Okay, now back to music. I am a huge fan of music! Huge, but I don’t know if what I like will be old news to you or not being I live in Tipton, California… seems we sometimes are the last to hear what’s new. By the time it gets our way it’s last months news… so here’s what I am liking right now.

    I Love…

John Mayer, Slow Dancing In a Burning Room

    Gary Allan, She’s So California

    Jason Mraz, I’m Yours

    Lifehouse, Storm

The Lost Trailors, How Bout You Don’t

I could go on and on and on… I think I must be itunes best customer! Hope you enjoy the music.

    Hugs,

    Micole

  12. I love this song! Still waiting to see the trailer. I really love Beyonce’s new song “If I Were A Boy”. I just spent a few hours updating my Ipod (my escape, especially when my husband is snoring at night!)

  13. I recently heard this new country song on the radio, “In Color” by Jamey Johnson. I loved it the first time I heard it, but I thought it was Montgomery Gentry singing it and had a hard time finding it. It is kinda hard to describe as I try to type something here – so I recommend giving it a listen. I know Jamey has a myspace page with the song on there available for playing (it is my new profile song). Basically, the song is about black and white pictures and how – you shoulda seen it in color.

I am a HUGE Bon Jovi fan also 🙂 My all time fave song is “Wanted Dead or Alive”.

  14. Well-I’ve actually been listening to Christmas music in the car. A local radio station has been playing it for about 2 weeks. LOVE IT! Before that, because of the elections, I was listening to talk radio. Normally, I listen to Taylor Swift, Josh Grobin, and Colbie. If my boys are in the car, it’s AC/DC and Ozzy! If it’s just my daughter, it’s High School Musical! I am very well-rounded!
    😉

  15. I have a favorite singer whose voice is the ultimate and whose looks reflect his voice, Patrizio Buanne. Saw him on a special on TV. I also like Blue Rodeo and Paul Anka.

  16. I can’t wait to watch FLIRTING WITH FORTY. The trailer looks great…and Robert Buckley is S-E-X-Y!

As to music I want to buy–Hinder’s TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT, Guns N’ Roses CHINESE DEMOCRACY, and Enya’s AND WINTER CAME.

  17. I am counting the days till the FLIRTING WITH FORTY movie debuts!

Currently I am listening to alot fo JEM, Fisher, Enya, and Sirsy! I am also thinking it is about time to drag out my x-mas CD’S!

Thanks so much for running another great contest!

    Best,
    Michelle

  18. I would definitely recommend Daryl Hall’s “I Can’t Stop Dreaming” CD. Yes, he is one of the best Duo’s ever, Hall and Oates. Their sound is still unique, but up-to-date these days. Even more soulful. Daryl’s solo CD from a few years ago (the one I mentioned) is stupendous! Very relaxing and soothing! Every song has a story to tell.

  19. I haven’t seen the trailer for Flirting With Forty on Lifetime yet. I will have to check it out on you Tube. Probably after I see it on You Tube I will see it on Liftime. That is the way it usually works.

Right now in the CD player in my car I am listening to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s new Christmas Albulm The Lost Christmas Eve. I also have the previous CD Christmas Eve and Other Stories of TSO in there too.
Christmas is coming and there are just few too many days to enjoy Christmas music. I love A Mad Russian Christmas.

  20. My iTunes is constantly on shuffle, but when I take a ride on the bus I often point my iPod to:

    Matt Costa
    Moshav Band
    Josh Kelley
    Rocky Votolato
    Manu Chao
    Ozomatli

    All great stuff!

  21. I’m listening to Nickelback and David Cook. Both have CD’s out today. It’s those raspy voices, I think. Hard to resist. lol

  22. I have Corrine Bailey Rae and James Blunt in my CD player in my car right now. I have a lot of 80’s music on my I Pod too – bands mostly from England that I really love. I just discovered Flogging Molly, an American band with a very celtic sound. Their song, “If I Ever Leave This World” was in the movie, P.S. I Love You, and is a great song within the context of that movie. Can’t wait to see your movie on Lifetime!

  23. The last few days I have been listening to the old and the new…Carrie Underwood, Josh Grobin, Journey, Foreigner, and the Wicked soundtrack.

  24. I think Adele was on SNL lately. I like her sound a lot. Right now, if I want to dance around my living room, I put on “Shake It” by Metro Station. Then, just for its simple beauty, I’m obsessed with “Love Remains the Same” by Gavin Rossdale aka Mr. Gwen Stefani lol. I love his raspy voice too.

Oh, and Jane, did you see where Robert Buckley made the list of People Magazine’s sexiest men? Online there was a mention of Flirting with Forty being his next movie out too. 🙂

  25. Favorites are:

    Strange by Tori Amos
The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson
    Give Me Strength by Dido
    Spark by Tori Amos
    9 Crimes by Damien Rice
    Believe by Staind
and I am hooked on a completely rowdy song by Saliva: Ladies and Gentelemen (my 13-year-old and I love it LOL )
and ANYTHING by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Alice in Chains 🙂

    Love the trailer.

  26. Hi Jane,

Just watched the trailer and now I’m even more excited to see the movie. As for music, I’m a Disney fanatic so anything Disney related I listen to it. And I also like 80’s hair bands. I’m such a dork, I know.

    Melissa

  27. My favorite is the old Bon Jovi stuff…don’t much care for the new stuff…they were a head-banging rock band & now they’re all sappy songs! WAAAHHH!!

  28. I love Christmas music and it is on both of the radio stations that I listen. Too many favorites to list, and several that make me change the station!

  29. The Flirting trailer gives me goose bumps!! I can hardly wait for the premiere. It’s so great to finally see it come to life.

As for music, I have an itunes gift card burning a hole in my pocket but haven’t had a chance to sit down and add new songs to my ipod. Hopefully the next few weekends will be a little quieter and I can spend a few hours loading up some new songs. My favorite new artist is Leona Lewis (I love Bleeding Love – especially when I’m in the car by myself and can sign with the radio!). I’m holding out for Christmas music, but not before December 1st!!

  30. Hi Jane!

The trailer to Flirting With Forty looks great! I can’t wait to see the movie! 🙂

Currently I’m listening to a lot of Barry Manilow. He’s got a new CD out next week called The Greatest Songs of the Eighties that I’m looking forward to.

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  31. I always have to enter these contests, especially when I see that there is See’s candy involved!

I get a lot of my ideas for new music from the CW Network–from the songs and bands they feature during their shows, such as 90210, Privileged and Gossip Girl. I guess that makes me a teenager at heart!

  32. On the trailers–::SQUEE:: I can’t wait to see this.

As far as what I’m listening to? A LOT of holiday songs being plonked out on the piano by my children, some Yo-Yo Ma solos and whatever the kids put on iTunes.

  33. I’m kind of embarrassed to admit it, but I’m already digging out my Christmas CDs! Especially Harry Connick Jr. Otherwise, I’m something of a dinasaur (my daughter nicknamed me Pegasaurus for a reason!), but I do love Andrea Boccelli.

  34. Favorite singers/bands: Sarah Brightman, Muse, Plumb, Placebo’s cover of Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill, Pink’s new album.

No new albums I’m looking forward to. Mainly because I seem to find people three years after their album has hit the stores. :o)

    -Susan

  35. I like to listen to groups such as Celtic Thunder and soloists like Josh Groban. But right now, am starting to get into the seasonal spirit with Christmas carols.

  36. I’m getting ready to be listening to primarily Trans Siberian Orchestra. Love their stuff and they are so awesome in concert…always get me in the holiday mood. As for regular stuff, I enjoy KT Tunstall, Natasha Bedingfield, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Jewel, Enya…I listen to just about everything!!

  37. I haven’t seen the trailer but with the weekend coming up I will be able to watch tv and will channel surf (couldn’t resist) to Lifetime to catch it. Haven’t been listening to much music lately but am ready for carols and songs of Christmas and love. One of my favorites is “Same Old Lang Syne” (?) by Dan Fogelberg who died last year so it will be even more sweet and sad than ever. I think I will get the new Carol Crowe Christmas cd at Hallmark because I like her sound, too.

  38. #14, Micole Black, you are the winner of the Odd Mom contest. Congrats! Please send me a private email with your address, how you want the book signed, and what size t-shirt (I have M & L) so I can mail you your prize.

It was wonderful to see so many of you post and get some new music ideas. Thank you!!
