Waikiki Waves

One of my best friends from high school, Anne Morse,  just arrived with her family in Hawaii for the next week.  They’re out sight-seeing today and I’m taking care of family stuff but tonight we all hope to grab dinner in Waikiki together.  I haven’t gotten any writing done since end of last week which is stressing me but trying to stay calm and positive so that when I do have time to write, I will.

Mac, however, continues to love Hawaii.  Last week he paddled around with Dad on a surfboard and loved it when Mom came out to play in the water with him, too.  He is just so incredibly busy.  I’ve raised boys before but neither of them have Mac’s relentless energy…and love of danger.

Hope you’re all well and having a good week.  Mac is now down for a nap so I’m determined to get progress made on chapter 3.  Let me know how you’re doing if you’ve time and I’ll check in soon, too!

  1. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time in Hawaii. Summertime seems to just fly bye.
My kids have 1 month til school starts. I hope to take a few days off before they start back.
Hopefully, I will get to make the Hawaii trip soon.
    Enjoy your evening.

  2. Hi Jane, it is great to see you laughing. Mac is such a cutie too. Looks like you guys are having a blast. I saw your blog post about him making friends too.

From what I can see, you got some writing done today. This blog is proof. I know, I know, you were probably talking about your ms, but any writing you do is progress, no? I hope you got the chance to tackle Chapter 3 while Mac took a nap.
Have a great rest of the day.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

  3. Great picture! Mac is the cutest little surfer!

Glad you’re having a good time in Hawaii…I’d still be jealous, but we are finally having some summer here in Canada too!

  4. Hi, Jane!

It is okay to take a break & stop and smell the roses… although in Hawaii I guess it would be frangipani or orchids or something!

    Mac is a cutie!

Enjoy seeing your friend from high school!

  5. Hola Jane,

What a great photo. I could just eat him up!!! Hot, hot, hot here in SA,TX. Wishing the rain would come back.

    Happy Summer everyone!

  6. Sounds like you’re having a blast. Mac is absolutely adorable. The more I read your blog and hear things from other people, the more I want to visit Hawaii. Unfortunately it’s a little pricey for me right now, but maybe sometime in the future if I can work it out.

I’m trying to get on top of the job stuff right now. I have one interview with the school system here next week and another two weeks later. Crossing my fingers that I’ll find a position. The market is bad even for teaching jobs right now.

When I’m not working on the job stuff, I’ve been enjoying time with friends and thinking about trying to squeeze in a vacation in the not too distant future. Can’t believe it’s already July! Time flies!

Hope you continue to enjoy your time in Hawaii!

    1. Laura, he’s holding a piece of coral! Mac has to always have a stick, rock, broom, or jug in his hand. He’s one of those original tool boys!

  7. What a doll!! After a cooler than normal spring, summer has finally arrived in WA. Today is going to be in th 90s so will be spent trying to keep cool!

  8. awww… so adorable. are you sure that level of cuteness is legal? Enjoy Hawaii and your friends and most especially, your boys. They are what you live for in the first place. You look like you are having a wonderful time.

  9. Mac is sooo cute! The weather is so hot here you can’t get anything done outside that I usually do in the summer. Still need to do some painting but just can’t get motavated to do it.

  10. Jane,
The picture of Mac is so cute! Hawaii sounds and looks wonderful. I am getting stuff ready for my beach weekend with 6 other women whom I’ve known forever – can’t wait!

  11. Jane,

  12. Hi Jane,
I am just finishing reading Easy on the Eyes and I am really enjoying it! The pic is so cute and Hawaii sounds really good right now 🙂 I look forward to your next blog.

  13. I am so jealous.
Mac looks like a bundle of never ending energy.

Today I took one daughter to get her hair cut. We then met up with her dad at a local restaurant for a nice lunch. I will be leaving to take youngest daughter to the doctor in about 10 minutes. I seem to live in doctors offices lately it seems.

I love reading about yours and Macs days in Hawaii.

  14. You can tell Mac has your beautiful smile, what a darling fella! We had one son who was always busy moving and building and one who was slower moving and loved words he would ask us to write in a small notebook for him. Kids are all different and that to me is what makes them so special, entertaining and their own person. Glad you are having fun! Hope you can get writing done in between the fun times.

  15. What a fabulous picture Jane! Is it just me or does Mac get more adorable each day? He is too cute! I am counting down the days until I can purchase SGC. 🙂 Enjoy your time in Hawaii.

  16. He is so adorable!

It’s so good to see old friends! Last night I got together with some of my sorority sisters. Three of us see each other often and talk every day. A fourth lives close to me and our sons go to the same school. The 5th came in from Washington, DC. We haven;t seen each other in 20 years and it was soooo nice. Our kids all got a long great too! Next week we will see another friend from college that we haven;t seen for years. This weekend my daughter’s godparents (my bff since we were babies) are coming. July is turning out to be a fabulous month!
    xoxo,
    Monie

  17. Summer finally arrived in the Pacific Northwest so I am enjoying the season! Went for a walk last night and it was light and warm until 9:30pm. Cue “Summer Nights” from Grease! Taking a vacation day tomorrow to go to the mountains.

  18. You are missing the heat wave here in WA. I don’t like heat so I am not so happy as some. 🙂

I love these pictures of Mac. I can’t wait to see more.

  19. Looks like you and Mac are having a great time 🙂

Nothing exciting happening in Northern Cal. Just trying to figure out a way to spend quality time with the kids while school is out. Unfortunately, work seems to get into the way…But a mid-week day off here and there can lead to some summer fun.

    Have fun in Hawaii.

  20. Mac is absolutely stinkin cute!!!! Doing well! enjoying some summer (finally) here in Seattle! Aloha!

  21. What a cute picture of you and Mac!! Hope Chapter 3’s coming along well and not giving you any problems!

  22. It’s finally so hot and humid here in VA now that I don’t want to eat much but ice! What type of cooking do you do most often when you are in Hawaii? What are some of the native foods and beverages that you and your family most enjoy?

  23. Hi! Just decided to check if you wrote something new on your blog, and you did, love the picture of you and Mac enjoying the beach. I love hearing about what your doing, alot more exciting than what I’m doing. I’m glad that its friday for this week was full of disappoint, but finally Mike decided to do the right thing, finally got alittle money for Marian, and food. I hate all this fighting but thats how Mike is. Anyways, things are going to get better, I just have to keep the faith. Went to a friends house to relax and see what kind of jewerly she’s selling. I saw some nice things but decided to wait for school starts and I need clothes for my daughter..and other things. Oh well, it was fun to get out of the house. Have fun with your frineds who are visiting and of course with hubby and little Mac! You’ll get back to writing soon..

  24. How cute Mac is! I actually have a guy-free weekend. Husband is on a dive and son is with his aunt in Utah for a week. Not sure what to do with myself!

  25. Such a darling photo! Please give those sweet Mac cheeks a smooch from me;) The “everyday” photos are always the most special…what a treasure this one will continue to be for you and Mac. You have never looked happier!

  26. Oh my goodness, Jane! I can’t believe how big Mac is getting!! You guys look and sound like you’re having so much fun. Miss you can’t wait to see you all in September when you get back to Bellevue :).
