All grown up!

My little Mac is now 7, and I haven’t seen him in weeks but I’ll finally be with him Sunday. When I told him on the phone I really missed him yesterday and asked if he missed me, he said, “Mom, come on. I’m practically a teenager.”

  1. Silly guy. I hope he had a good birthday. I know you’ll be glad to be with him again. I don’t have children, so I have no funny stories. I could tell you about cute or funny things that my cats do, but I doubt anyone wants to read about that.

  2. Kids are funny! 🙂 My nephew always gives me a smile! I love when he sings along with a song, but says the wrong words… forget trying to correct him… he insists he is always right!

  3. My adorable grandson says the most entertaining statements. But this one took my breath away. He said that he wanted to be a beach engineer when he grew up. From a 3 year old.

  4. What a darling picture! When my son was young, he would always crack us up when he said he made a burp from his hiney!

  5. Once a long time ago now, our son told us that he could not play with his pretend friend, because the friend was “on vacation.” Children and the things they say are so refreshingly honest yet creative. Mac is growing up….not a teen, but with older brothers he probably thinks he is. 😉 Enjoy your reunion!

  6. My niece was about 4 or 5. I surprised them early one Saturday morning with donuts. I looked like hell–hair needed washing, had on a pink robe and rainbow fuzzy slippers. When she saw me she said “Aunt Laurie! You look sooooooo fancy!!!” Definitely taught me I needed better self talk and to look at myself like she does!

  7. My middle child was about four, he was looking out the front window and asking about our magnolia tree. He decided it was our **family tree.** I decided to enjoy his comment and explain the family tree another day.

  8. When my son was three he woke up in a rotten mood. I said, “You must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed.” He looked at his bed which was up against the wall in the corner of his bedroom and said, “Mom, there’s only one side I can get up out of.” Hope your little one has a happy birthday. Seven is a great age.

  9. When my youngest was about Mac’s age he told me he would always be my baby, no matter how old he was. That was so special to me. I hope Mac had an awesome birthday!!

  10. Mm oldest daughter who will be 30 in less than a month always wanted to be a Dolphin trainer after her first visit when she was very little. It used to drive her Nana crazy when she would state she was going to be a Dolphin trainer. I told her Nana to let her have her dreams. My daughter also had a saying every time she ate hush puppies , she would point her little finger at the hush puppy and say “hush it puppy”. I can’t believe she will be 30 in August.

  11. I left out about the She wanted to be a Trainer after her first visit to Sea World as a very little girl.
Her First visit to Sea World.

  12. My daughter, as an adult, has mangled the English language, constantly changing the words to common phrases without knowing otherwise. Often says things like, “Don’t upset the apple falling from the tree” or “I am my daughter’s father”. When I correct her privately, she says, “Whatever” and continues saying it.

    1. Oh, Jane. How can Mac be 7 already? Seems like yesterday when you were pregnant with him! DO enjoy. Time passes by way too quickly….

  13. How adorable. I remember when my oldet daughter was 4 and she was staring at the light fixture on the ceiling and blinking her eyes open and closed. I asked what she was doing and she told me she was turning the light on & off.

  14. When my son was young my sister use to call her cats pussy. Well my son got in a large pet shop one day and was yelling at the top of his lung mom come and look at all these pussys. My sister still laughs about this today.

  15. I still have the note my son wrote that says WAKE UP MUM!! He just sat the note on my chest for me to find when I woke up.

  16. Thanks for sharing the cute memories! I enjoyed reading through them all. And our winner is #5 – Rochelle L!

Rochelle, drop me an email with your mailing details and I’ll get fun stuff in the mail. 🙂

    much love,
    Jane

  17. When my son was 10, I overheard him express his frustration with his somewhat bossy and obstinate, 4 year old sister. Under his breath he said, “I feel sorry for the guy who marries her!” Made me laugh out loud.

  18. When my daughter was little, we would drive by nearby Wagner Farm and she loved seeing the “tows” and making moo ing sounds! She also wondered why they ate grass instead of pizza!
