Lunch with my Denver Readers

Happy Monday everyone! I’m just about to dive into my writing but wanted to let all my Denver readers know that I’m going to be in your city this Thursday, September 23rd  for the Mountains and Plains bookseller tradeshow at the Marriott Tech Center, and I’m organizing a lunch for my Denver area readers.

The 1 pm lunch is my treat , and its going to be at a fantastic restaurant and I’m bringing special reader goodie bags for everyone that attends. There is no agenda, just a small, relaxed lunch with my readers and friends. Want to join me Thursday? Just send me a private email to RSVP, or post something in my comment section about RSVPing, and I’ll get back to you with all the details.

And for those who are too far away from Denver to attend, I’m hosting another fun, fast blog contest that classic romance readers will love. When I was in Auckland at the New Zealand Romance Writers conference I met the fabulous Natalie Anderson who writes incredibly wonderful, sexy romances. I was able to pick up two copies of her Harlequin novel, Hot Boss, Boardroom Mistress, which also includes one of my novellas! I was so excited to find this book as my  novella, Mistaken for a Mistress, is impossible to find. For those of you who’ve read my Galvan Brides mini-series, Mistaken for a Mistress, is the story about Estrella Galvan, the sister who was the European model.

The blog contest runs until Friday noon and I’ll announce the winner Friday afternoon. The prizes include the book, a $15 Barnes & Noble gift card, chocolate, and lots and lots of JP reader goodies. How to win? Just post a comment about your week or weekend, and that’s it! You’re entered!

Hope to see some of you in Denver. Don’t be shy about attending the Thursday lunch and if you need courage,  bring a friend or two!

A Dark Sicilian Secret is done!

My latest Harlequin Presents, a story set in Sicily, has been officially accepted and titled.  I don’t know when A Dark Sicilian Secret will be scheduled, but fingers crossed it’ll be out this time next year, if not a little sooner.

This was such an intense book, and while I loved my premise, it challenged me at every twist and turn.   I hope my romance readers will love this story as I’ve never written anything quite like this before.

To celebrate the book’s acceptance, as well as my deep sigh of relief that it’s finally, truly done, I’m going to get a massage this afternoon and chill out because on Monday I’m back to work on my new women’s fiction single title.

However, I’d like to keep the celebratory feeling going a little longer (because this book did take up my entire summer!)  so I’m hosting a special contest for my blog readers this weekend.

One of my all time bestselling Presents novels was another Sicilian story called The Sicilian’s Defiant Mistress and Harlequin Mills & Boon Australia paired it recently in a gorgeous trade size anthology titled “Bedded by Bad Boys” with a story by gifted author Cindy Gerard.  Cindy’s novel, The Outlaw Jesse James is incredible, and the fact that it celebrates those sexy rodeo heroes makes it even hotter.  I’m crazy about this anthology and think you die hard romance readers will love it, too!

Want to win one of the three copies of this sensational anthology, chocolate treat,  and $10 Starbucks drink cards?   Just post a comment in the comment section below and and tell me if you’ve ever been to Texas or the South.  Or share if you’ve ever been to a rodeo, or have a secret soft spot for country music–and you’re in.   Just comment and you’re entered.  You don’t have to be a country girl to love this prize–you just have to love romance and a taste for something sweet.  Contest ends Monday morning PST at 8 am.  I’ll announce the winner in the comment section of my blog by noon and the winners will have two days to get back to me or I’m drawing new winner names!!

Good luck to all, check back in on Monday to see if you’ve won, and now I’m off to get that 60 minute massage.  After weeks and weeks of writing, traveling, and working, I can not wait to be spoiled rotten!  🙂

Last night’s event at Barnes and Noble in Bellevue was a huge success! Lots of friends showed up and we sold a ton of books. Thank you so much for all your wonderful support! It means so much to me!!

New Day Northwest

ndnwI’m just rushing off to downtown Seattle for a chat on Northwest New Day with Margaret about She’s Gone Country and my Seattle bookevents this weekend.

Tune in if you can.  The segment is supposed to air around 10:10 this morning!

UPDATE: Here I am!

Traveling & Touring Jane

I’m writing a lot this week, working on my new book, and it’s exciting and challenging, and compelling and frustrating, but isn’t that how a new book always is?

But even with all the writing, the She’s Gone Country book tour rolls on. This Friday I’m at the Borders at Sea-Tac airport at 9 am, and then Thursday Sept 9th is my big Bellevue launch party with the Barnes & Noble discussion and signing at 7 and the party over at Ooba’s at 8 pm. Lisa Johnson, owner of Ooba’s, stopped by my house this morning to discuss the drinks and menu (their signature margaritas plus yummy Tex-Mex food). If you’ve attended the Bellevue party before you know it’s always a lot of fun and I’ve got great reader giveaways so come!

For those who want a more literary feel on the other side of the bridge, we’ve got an event for you, too at Third Place Books Saturday, September 11th. Join me for a reading and a great discussion. I’d love to answer all your questions from why Texas to what’s happening in Hollywood with my books now.

Sunday, September 12th is a book event at Borders in Visalia, California. Visalia is my hometown. I was born at Kaweah Delta Hospital and graduated from Redwood High. I’m hoping to have a great event there, too, and want you to grab a couple friends to come with you.

And then… (breathless pant here….) we’ve got that big ole’ Texas book tour coming up kicking off October 10th with a tea with the DFW Tea group, and then a fun girls night out party at Love and War in Texas. I’ve got 8 days of events in Texas and I want to see everyone that I can. So book clubs, grab your girls and come see me, or clubs and groups, email me and see if I can join you for something. I haven’t done a big Texas tour in 5 years so let’s make this one HUGE and awesome!

Now it’s back to the story and love and hugs and gratitude to all of you!

PS  Want to buy a new book to read? Craving something sweet to go with that new novel?  Tell me what you’re doing this weekend and you’re entered to win a $15 B&N gift card and a $10 Starbucks gift card plus lots of JP goodies. Contest runs through Saturday night and I’ll announce the winner Sunday! Good luck and happy early Labor Day weekend!

Back Home

Back home after my week in California! It’s been a very successful tour so far. Readers are loving She’s Gone Country and I really want to thank everyone who’s posted a review at Amazon and the other sites! Several of you have emailed to tell me it’s your all-time favorite book that I’ve written. I’m grateful and touched for the terrific feedback. Thank you so much!

I’ve got two big Washington events coming up. My big Bellevue launch with that always fun Ooba’s party and a book signing at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park. If you’re in the area, I hope you’ll come join me!

We’ve got three cute entries so far for the Cover Girl Contest and I want to see yours!!! Do send it in. Entering the contest is easy:

1) Grab a copy of She’s Gone Country

2) Stand next to or sit on a car (any type of car!!)

3) Use your camera or a camera phone and snap a photo

4) Email it to [email protected] with a comment about the book and you’re done!

Everyone who enters the contest gets a gift from me! So hurry up and send in those entries. I can’t wait to see them! I’ve loved all the comments on the contest page and look forward to more. Just remember votes don’t count until October 1st when voting begins officially so do come back then to vote and bring your friends and family too!

Cover Girl Questions

I’m checking in from the road again, this time from Pasadena, CA! I just received the first entry for my She’s Gone Country Cover Girl Contest—check it out here—plus a lot of questions from readers about the contest rules.

Many of you have asked how true to the cover your photos need to be. Answer: as long as the photo features you, a truck, and a copy of She’s Gone Country, you’re all set. Get as creative as you want. No need to find an identically red, beat-up truck, and certainly no need to look just like the Cover Girl (wouldn’t it be nice!). I just want you to have fun and get in the spirit of the book. Cowboy boots are totally optional.

Also, many of you have asked me for a bit of an extension. You are waiting for good weather, still looking for a good truck, or awaiting your book’s arrival from an online bookstore—understood, and I’m excited about the levels of commitment you are showing to the contest! I’m listening and have extended the entry deadline to September 30th, which will hopefully give you plenty of time to GO COUNTRY!

Leapin’ Lizard!

While I gasp at the 109 temperatures predicted for today’s high in Fresno, Mac’s in Hawaii with his dad…wearing baby lizards on his head!  When I say we’re raising a wild child, I mean it!  Mac is so funny and silly, and built so much like our English bulldogs I think he is one!

I had to leave Sacramento around 4:30 am this morning to make my Great Day interview at the Fox station in Fresno this morning, but the interview’s done (it went really well!  yay!) and I’m heading to my hotel room to nap for a couple hours before I get ready for tonights Margarita party at Chevy’s at 4:30 and then the booksigning at Barnes & Noble at 7 pm.

I know its swletering out there in the Central Valley—109!!!!–but I guarantee that if you make it to Chevy’s at Happy Hour, the margaritas will be icy cold.   So do come if you can!

PS  And for all of those who aren’t in Central California–I’m going to do a contest just for you!  Tell me your favorite way to stay cool on a blistering day and two of you will win wonderfully refreshing prizes AND a signed book of your choice from my backlist.  So share your stay cool tips and you could win!  Contest runs through Friday night PST and I’ll announce the winners Saturday morning.

Book Events All Week Long!

The pic  below was taken in July when I joined a wonderful Seattle book group for their discussion of Odd Mom Out and tomorrow I begin a whole new round of book talks, readings, signings and discussions….about SHE’S GONE COUNTRY!  I am really excited to be on the road, meeting up with readers, and saying hello to booksellers.

Are you in California?  Can you join me at one of my book events this week?  It’s Palo Alto Monday night, Sacramento Tuesday night, Fresno Wednesday night, Pasadena Thursday night, and then to Nevada Friday noon!  I know it takes effort to get out of the house, make arrangements for kids, sometimes travel a great distance, but please know I so appreciate it when you are there and I never take your attendance for granted!

Looking forward to a wonderful week in California and then my noon event with Robin Carr’s group in Henderson, Nevada.  Need details for my events?  They’re all here on my website’s event page.  Check out the schedule and see when I’ll be somewhere near you!

Gone Country Sightings

I’m in Auckland at the wonderful Romance Writers of New Zealand’s conference  and having an amazing time. These women, and this conference, is so unbelievably cool.

Have been getting texts and emails and blog posts about She’s Gone Country sightings and thought I’d share this one from my pal Janelle who spotted the book on a Virginia Barnes & Noble shelf. Very cool, Janelle. Thank you!

If your local bookstore doesn’t have She’s Gone Country in the store on Monday, don’t be afraid to ask if they’re getting copies, and if they aren’t, or if–as in the case of the Temecula Barnes & Noble–they’ve already sold  out, ask them to order more. The first couple weeks of a book’s release are  so important so let your local store know this is a book you want to read!

Now back to the conference and these lovely Kiwis!
