Lunch with my Denver Readers

Happy Monday everyone! I’m just about to dive into my writing but wanted to let all my Denver readers know that I’m going to be in your city this Thursday, September 23rd  for the Mountains and Plains bookseller tradeshow at the Marriott Tech Center, and I’m organizing a lunch for my Denver area readers. The 1 pm lunch is my treat , and its going to be at a fantastic restaurant and I’m bringing special reader goodie bags for everyone that attends. There is no agenda, just a small, relaxed lunch with my readers and friends. Want to join me Thursday? Just send me a private email to RSVP, or post something in my comment section about RSVPing, and I’ll … Continue reading Lunch with my Denver Readers

Traveling & Touring Jane

I’m writing a lot this week, working on my new book, and it’s exciting and challenging, and compelling and frustrating, but isn’t that how a new book always is? But even with all the writing, the She’s Gone Country book tour rolls on. This Friday I’m at the Borders at Sea-Tac airport at 9 am, and then Thursday Sept 9th is my big Bellevue launch party with the Barnes & Noble discussion and signing at 7 and the party over at Ooba’s at 8 pm. Lisa Johnson, owner of Ooba’s, stopped by my house this morning to discuss the drinks and menu (their signature margaritas plus yummy Tex-Mex food). If you’ve attended the Bellevue party before you know it’s always … Continue reading Traveling & Touring Jane

Leapin’ Lizard!

While I gasp at the 109 temperatures predicted for today’s high in Fresno, Mac’s in Hawaii with his dad…wearing baby lizards on his head!  When I say we’re raising a wild child, I mean it!  Mac is so funny and silly, and built so much like our English bulldogs I think he is one!   I had to leave Sacramento around 4:30 am this morning to make my Great Day interview at the Fox station in Fresno this morning, but the interview’s done (it went really well!  yay!) and I’m heading to my hotel room to nap for a couple hours before I get ready for tonights Margarita party at Chevy’s at 4:30 and then the booksigning at Barnes & Noble at … Continue reading Leapin’ Lizard!

Book Events All Week Long!

The pic  below was taken in July when I joined a wonderful Seattle book group for their discussion of Odd Mom Out and tomorrow I begin a whole new round of book talks, readings, signings and discussions….about SHE’S GONE COUNTRY!  I am really excited to be on the road, meeting up with readers, and saying hello to booksellers. Are you in California?  Can you join me at one of my book events this week?  It’s Palo Alto Monday night, Sacramento Tuesday night, Fresno Wednesday night, Pasadena Thursday night, and then to Nevada Friday noon!  I know it takes effort to get out of the house, make arrangements for kids, sometimes travel a great distance, but please know I so appreciate … Continue reading Book Events All Week Long!

Country Girl (Shey), Cover Girl (You), Soon to be Back-in-the-USA Girl (Me)

I’m ready to hit the touring road, and am off to charming Auckland, New Zealand, where I will attend their Romance Writers’ Conference this week. And next Monday I will be back in the states, getting ready for my book launch party at Books Inc in Palo Alto, CA, and basking in the excitement of She’s Gone Country officially hitting stores. Book releases mean book tours, which means lots of traveling, hard work, and time away from my family. But touring also offers me the chance to visit new and beloved destinations, meet new and dedicated readers, and celebrate the finished product of the hard work of writing. I love my job. And I especially love book releases! And this … Continue reading Country Girl (Shey), Cover Girl (You), Soon to be Back-in-the-USA Girl (Me)

Fittings

I leave in two weeks for Hawaii for the summer. It sounds fabulous but is also kind of wrenching as my two oldest sons will be with their dad for the first month and then come to me for the second–and I’ll be away for one of those weeks they’re with me attending Romance Writers of America’s national conference in Orlando. I’ve never been away from Mac for more than a night and flying thirteen hours away from him for 6 nights of business makes my heart hurt. I think I’d be better with the week away if that were my only week away from the boys, but that’s just the beginning of three months of frequent, and sometimes hard, … Continue reading Fittings

Mac’s 1st Birthday & Screening Fun

It’s been a very busy few days!  Sunday was the screening for Christine Fugate’s powerful, wonderful, uplifting film, grief becomes me:  a love story.  We had well over one hundred people attend the screening and absolutely wonderful food and drink with some of my favorite people in the world.  A truly special day, especially as we earned $600 for Hopelink for their summer programs.  The beautiful Vera Bradley store at the Bellevue Square mall donated the swag bags everyone got to take home, Christine donated her DVDs of her film, and I donated my books and through everyone’s generous purchases we ended up having fun and raising money for an important local charity. And then if the screening wasn’t wonderful … Continue reading Mac’s 1st Birthday & Screening Fun

Our Hawaii Get-Away for Brenda’s Auction!

So very excited….Brenda Novak’s amazing annual auction to raise money for diabetes research is almost here!  The auction kicks off May 1st and is going to be spectacular.  I’ve been browsing the list of items available and have ear marked several things I want to bid on–and win! As most of you know, I always donate something to the auction and I’ve put together a couple things for her auction again this year, including a week stay at the Ty Gurney Surf & Stay Beach House.  It’s a fun, fantastic package, perfect for a writer’s retreat, romance, or a girl friend getaway. I’ll post links to all the items I’m donating next week just before the auction goes live, but in … Continue reading Our Hawaii Get-Away for Brenda’s Auction!

Sunday Film Screening in Redmond

If you’re in the Greater Seattle area and haven’t yet gotten your invite to the private screening I’m hosting for my friend, Christine Fugate’s new film, Grief Becomes Me, please know that I’d love for you to join me!  Invites were mailed two weeks ago but inevitably invites get lost, or people move or I’ve failed to get someone added to my revised mailing list, so if you’re one of my readers or friends who would enjoy the Sunday afternoon screening, please come.  I still have 15-20 spaces left, and you’re more than welcome to bring a friend.  I just need an RSVP so I can keep track of seats available in Redmond’s gorgeous Big Picture movie theatre. Christine will be flying … Continue reading Sunday Film Screening in Redmond
